So Santa was quite generous this year and popped an iPad into my stocking. It is serious love - I am now wondering how I ever survived without it. But here is the thing, Im not sure I love reading my books on it.
There are definitely some positives about books online - like getting a book as soon as your hear about it (no waiting for the shops to be open), you can read in bed without having the light on (great when you've got a snoring kid next to you), its a bit cheaper and you can quite often download the first chapter for free.
However, I am not sold on it. I love a proper book. I love the feel of a book, the look of a book, I love that I can read a book in the bath or at the beach (aint no way Im taking the iPad to either), I love that you can lend it to your mates when you've read it, I love browsing in an actual bookshop. I love seeing all my books on the shelf and snapping up a bargain at the op shop. Hard back or paper back - I love you all.
So I have read 2 books on my iPad so far and I don't think I am going to be reading that many more on there for the time being.
Have you gone crazy for electronic books or do you still love the feel of the paper?

I know exactly what you mean. I just can't get comfy with an iPad! Yes, I agree about lying in bed with the lights out and just your iPad, but the text keeps switching between landscape and portrait depending on which hand I hold it in! I will be holding onto a real book for a little while yet too.

I'm a paper person and can't imagine being otherwise. Cherrie
You lucky thing - I have serious iPad envy.
I have tried reading books on iPhone. But I prefer a real book. It feels good in my hands and I do love the smell of books. And I like to collect things, I have 100s of books at home.
I have hundreds of books here and its time to start decluttering :D while I love the idea of reading on my iPad its not something I am adapting to easily as I just love a paperback book. I am however going to attempt to read more on the iPad to get used to it.
Have you downloaded the book apps? Amazon Kindle or Kobo, you can adjust the background glare on both!
My husband reads heaps of books in bed on his ipad and I wonder the same thing....how can he be enjoying it, without the 'smell' even, of a real book? Still, its convenient like you say, you don't need the light on etc. I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow these days, but if I could keep my eyes open, it would be real books for me.
oooh - I got a kindle - have tried that and the ipad and found it a bit easier to use but I'm not sold on either of them. So, I'm not giving up the books....love them too much.
